Have you ever wondered who Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard Camden is? Allow us to shed some light on this remarkable organisation and its impactful work! For over 15 years, this charity has been actively addressing the practical and financial needs of our local community of Camden, NSW and beyond.

We took a trip down in early May to meet the team! At the heart of this organisation is Val, the inspiring, generous, and heart-led President along with her dedicated team of 85 volunteers, who selflessly invest their time in managing clothing and second-hand goods, along with helping those experiencing hardships including Domestic Abuse and homelessness. Their commitment is instrumental in ensuring that all operations run smoothly and efficiently.

So, what exactly do they do? Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard is more than just a thrift store.
This charity focuses on providing furniture and household goods to survivors of domestic violence and homelessness, assisting them in rebuilding their lives. Working closely with various agencies who refer their clients to us for assistance.

In addition to furniture, they also supply essential items like linen, crockery, cutlery, and food to crisis accommodation centers. Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard Camden believes in the power of entertainment and provide refuges and mental health facilities with clothing, DVDs, and games to bring moments of joy to those facing challenging circumstances. Furthermore, they donate nappies, toiletry supplies, and clothing to women’s refuge centers, acknowledging the specific needs of these individuals.

The impact we make goes beyond the immediate assistance we offer. The money raised from our op shop goes right back into the community. This ensures that our efforts have a lasting and sustainable effect, enabling us to continue making a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Recognising the hardships faced by women experiencing DV, hardship & homelessness, we also provide feminine hygiene products to support their well-being.” – Val, President Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard
